circa 1860, with round 33 1/4in. iron barrel with flat sighting plane and side bayonet bar (exposed surfaces lightly pitted), block and blade fore-sight, elevating military-style rear-sight, traces of a signature forwards of the rear-sight, patent squared breech (traces of colour) with borderline engraved top-tang and platinum plug to snail, borderline engraved bar-action lock signed 'GEORGE GIBBS', chequered walnut three-quarter stock, iron furniture (pitted as barrel), oval escutcheon to underside of butt engraved with the motto 'LABOR IPSE VOLUPTAS' together with the profile of a standing bird, carved cheeks to the stock, horn fore-end tip, two barrel keys and jag-ended iron ramrod
